University Hill moves from vision to reality
University Hill is MAB Corporation’s mixed-use development on the corner of Plenty Road and the Metropolitan Ring Road in Bundoora. At an estimated end value of $1 billion University Hill is situated on 104 hectares.
The Vision for University Hill was to bring together the lifestyle that make us Melbournian’s; our street-based coffee and restaurant culture, being able to walk to and from our local shops or even living close to work. Recently that vision has begun to come to life with the completion of the Wetlands, Princeton Park, Brand Junction and host of other new developments. “People are looking for more than just a house-and-land package to live in, they want to be a part of something bigger, part of a community. University Hill offers an exciting lifestyle opportunity for residents and businesses to join,” notes MAB Corporation’s Managing Director, Andrew Buxton. “People are more conscious than ever about where they chose to live and are looking for places where they can save time and money. They want to be close to shopping facilities and employment opportunities. This reduces the amount of time spent in the car on a congested freeway allowing more quality time with family and friends.” At the heart of University Hill’s community is its thriving Town Centre. It is based on the “high-street” experience of famous Melbourne shopping strips with cafés, shops and restaurants spilling onto the streets where locals and visitors can pick up groceries, grab a latté, have a business meeting or enjoy dinner with friends. With the exciting new discount retail centre, Brand Junction, now open, people can also enjoy shopping for their favourite fashion, homewares or sporting goods. With over 100 international and national brands such as Guess, Laura Ashley, Sheridan and Tarocash, there is something for everyone. Complementing the Town Centre is the community facilities such as Pelican Childcare where parents are benefitting from the convenience of this childcare service. In addition to this is the University Hill Medical Centre, Priceline Pharmacy and soon to be completed Genesis Health and Fitness Club. The Vision continues to become reality with the first residents soon to move in. By the end of 2009, the residential community will be estimated at 500 people. Ultimately, University Hill will contain over 1000 dwellings including houses, apartments and townhouses – catering for everyone, from first home owners and families to second and third home buyers. Adjacent to the Plenty Gorge State Park and with views of the Dandenong and Yarra Ranges, people can enjoy a range of outdoor recreational activities and admire the natural scenery. University Hill has parklands, wetlands and shared pathways providing people the opportunity to have a barbeque, kick a football, enjoy a leisurely walk or go for a bike ride. Supporting the greater community is Business hub which provides a range of employment opportunities and quality office accommodation. The University Hill workforce already consists of over 1,000 people and is expected to reach its peak at an estimated 3,000. “MAB realised early on that people were looking for a community to be a part of, somewhere with lifestyle options with the opportunity to go for a walk or bike ride, play with children, or grab a coffee and a bite to eat. Imperative to our vision, has also been to create employment opportunities for the City of Whittlesea, therefore making University Hill the complete community where people can live, work and play”, said Mr Buxton University Hill currently has a number of residential opportunities for sale including Lochmore Apartments offering studio suites, one and two bedrooms starting at $327,000 and the brand new Princeton Rise release of three and four bedroom houses starting from $480,000. University Hill is located on the corner of Plenty Road and the Metropolitan Ring Road, Bundoora, (Mel Ref 10 B7). The Sales Centre is open 7 days-a-week from 9am to 5pm. |
