Premier says Merrifield residents will enjoy a better lifestyle

Victorian Premier Dr Denis Napthine has highlighted the Government’s support of Merrifield at the Melbourne’s North: Now and Tomorrow Summit held recently.

Dr Napthine said that Merrifield would enable people to enjoy a better lifestyle by living close to jobs, services and transport connections.

“The development of Merrifield reflects key ideas in the Metropolitan Planning Strategy discussion paper released last October” Dr Napthine said.

“The Metropolitan Planning Strategy addresses the challenges and opportunities arising from our growing population, and sets out how we can provide strategic infrastructure and services to meet those challenges and opportunities in a sustainable way.”

MAB Chief Operating Officer David Hall, who attended the Summit, welcomed the Premier’s endorsement.

“Merrifield has been 10 years in the making” said Mr Hall. “We have carefully considered what sort of lifestyle residents will want at Merrifield from transport, child care and community services, through to sporting facilities, cafes and a shopping centre.

“We are very proud of what we plan to deliver.”
