Farmers’ market at University Hill
MAB Contributes to Local Community by setting up Farmers’ Market
Late last year, MAB recognised the need to activate and energise the new community of University Hill and identified a Farmer’s Market as a positive and inclusive way to engage the local farmers and the community.
The stallholders from across Victoria sell fresh fruit and veggies, gourmet meats, biodynamic wine and beer, flowers, plants and other treats direct to the consumer. “We wanted to bring an authentic farmers’ market to the community that fits with the newly introduced Victorian Farmers’ Market Association accreditation – working to support Victorian producers,” explains David Hall, MAB’s Chief Operating Officer.
The first Farmers’ Market had over 800 customers and in December attendance more than doubled. Each month, the market continues to grow with well over 1,000 customers attending.
Feedback from customers, retailers and residents indicate that the Farmers’ Market is contributing greatly to engaging the community at University Hill.
Supported by the Rotary Club of Bundoora, funds raised from the gold coin entry fees go toward worthy local projects. The market is open the 2nd Saturday of each month at University Hill, opposite Brand Junction Factory Outlet.
