A new industrial hub for Melbourne’s north

The developers of Merrifield – Victoria’s largest mixed-use development – have announced details of a key component of the visionary masterplan – a $300 million business park precinct.

A joint venture between MAB Corporation (MAB) and Gibson Property Corporation (GPC), Merrifield will see the transformation of over 900 hectares into a bustling 24 hour city for Melbourne’s rapidly expanding northern growth corridor.

The purpose-built business hub will be spread over 300 hectares. It boasts excellent accessibility via the site’s strategic location on the corner of the Hume Highway and Donnybrook Road in Mickleham – 30 kilometres north of the Melbourne CBD.

MAB General Manager Luke Noonan said Merrifield will soon become a booming location to build a business.

“The business precinct is an integral element of the overall plan for Merrifield,” said Mr Noonan. “Conveniently positioned next to the future city centre, the business park wil contribute to the anticipated 20,000 new jobs to be created within the development.

“Merrifield will provide vital amenties and community facilities to meet the needs of both residents and workers within Merrifield and the surrounding areas.”

Businesses will have the ability to distribute goods to 80 percent of the national population within 12 hours from the site.

“Consequently, we see a large number of jobs for the transport, manufacturing, freight and logistics industries.”

Merrifield will provide ultimate flexibility in terms of lot sizes to accommodate the individual needs of business – including major sites of up to 50 hectares – with sale and lease options  available.

“This is a blank canvas offering high flexibility,” said Mr Noonan. “Organisations rarely have the opportunity to anchor their business in such a thriving corridor.”

MAB has also announced the appointment of Business Development Manager Tony Blazevic.

“Tony’s focus is attracting new business to Merrifield,” said Mr Noonan. “Land prices will be highly affordable, offering businesses the chance to relocate and expand their operations.

“We are offering the complete vision at Merrifield – proximity to a wide range of amenities including the Merrifield City Centre, along with access to a local and growing regional labour force.”
