First Three Stages of Preston Crossing Completed

In April 2024, we began welcoming residents into the first three completed stages at Preston Crossing, MAB’s sustainable residential community located in Melbourne’s inner north.

A masterplanned, nine-stage urban regeneration project set across two land parcels, Preston Crossing brings together leading Melbourne architects to create a new residential neighbourhood, made up of both private and social dwellings, that’s defined by progressive design, active community and a healthy environment.

The three completed stages are within the Oakover Road neighbourhood of Preston Crossing and include 26 townhouses designed by Archier, 52 Nightingale apartments by Breathe, and 94 social and affordable apartments by Hayball. All homes are connected by a pedestrian focused public realm featuring a community pocket park, and with many families now calling Preston Crossing home, this new neighbourhood’s already full of activity.

MAB, and the architects assembled, are committed to responsible development at Preston Crossing, which includes embracing sustainability principles throughout the design. Each apartment and townhouse is Five Star Green Star Design and As-Built certified, and carries a minimum 7 Star average NatHERs rating, significantly reducing energy usage in operation. Homes are all electric, solar boosted and, when paired with a green power electricity plan, can operate carbon neutral.

The final stage of the Oakover Road neighbourhood, comprising apartments and townhouses by Hayball, will be completed in mid-2025 before the project moves into its next stage at the second Preston Crossing site, 200m west of Oakover.
