Merrifield Places Education at the Forefront of its Community Development
Merrifield has secured its first childcare centre with Kool Kidz Childcare and Kindergarten establishing a state of the art purpose built early learning facility in this thriving new community.
The new childcare and kindergarten service will be located on the corner of Errol Boulevard and Bendigo Street in the heart of the living precinct at Merrifield.
Construction will commence mid-2016 and the facility will be operational by mid-2017. Kool Kidz Merrifield will cater for 168 children from 8 weeks of age through to Preschool.
This is the first early educational facility to be confirmed for Merrifield, to be joined in the future by a kindergarten, two primary schools, one secondary school and a tertiary institution, all of which have been planned for the project.
The Hume City Council places strong importance on educational infrastructure in the region and is pleased with the news of the first childcare centre at Merrifield. “With significant population growth within the Hume region expected over the next 10 years, schools and childcare facilities are extremely necessary in any new development,” stated the Hume Mayor, Cr Helen Patsikatheodorou.
“The vision for Merrifield was always to create a sustainable way of life for our customers, complete with a living and employment precinct, lifelong education options and a thriving city centre. At least three schools are earmarked for the project along with further childcare centres once the population reaches certain thresholds,” said Matthew Planner, Project Director.
Merrifield is a joint venture development by MAB Corporation and Gibson Property Corporation. It is set to be Victoria’s largest fully masterplanned mixed-use community, providing over 5,000 new homes, a 110-hectare waterfront city centre and a 330-hectare business park creating up to 25,000 new jobs.
Kool Kidz is a privately owned, family run business offering quality educators with personal service, already operating in multiple locations across Melbourne.
