Construction Commenced at Thompsons Base
MAB Corporation has commenced construction of the 20 hectare Thompsons Base Business Park and is on its way to deliver 1,000 new jobs in Cranbourne West in the City of Casey.
With works on major infrastructure now well underway, the project is attracting unprecedented levels of interest from new businesses wishing to secure sites within the master-planned employment precinct.
“The City of Casey is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia and we’re pleased to be commencing works on the infrastructure for the area,” said MAB Director Business Parks, Tony Blazevic.
“Our investment is already seeing results with huge interest from developers and builders – a lot of them local. We’ve worked closely with the City of Casey to plan and deliver infrastructure that neighbouring landholders and developers can tap into, which will help grow Cranbourne West into a major industry hub,” said Mr Blazevic.
“Our research has estimated that MAB’s investment in the initial infrastructure at Cranbourne West will be a catalyst for over $200 million of new investment. We are very keen to see Thompsons Base at the heart of a new employment precinct in Melbourne’s south east,” said Mr Blazevic.
“We have been creating employment-based projects across Melbourne for many years and we are delighted to be now delivering our business park model in the City of Casey. The working relationship and collaboration with the Council has been extremely positive and we have shared a common objective with Council to activate economic development and job creation in Cranbourne West,” said Mr Blazevic.
“With Stages 1 and 2, comprising more than 123,000 square metres now sold out, we are seeing a high level of interest from purchasers wishing to secure a position in Stage 3,” said MAB Development Manager, Ayman Allaf.
MAB Corporation has closed a deal with experienced Melbourne industrial construction company Corplex Group at Thompsons Base valued at over $16.5 million. This makes it the largest package deal acquisition ever in the South East Industrial node including the main Dandenong South industrial hub area. The transaction of 25 lots range in size from 1,000 square metres to 2.5 hectares and sends a clear message of commercial support to the Cranbourne West area.
“We are drawn to Thompsons Base as we appreciate the flexibility that MAB Corporation offers us – lots can be amalgamated and reshaped so that we can create our own designed commercial and purpose built facilities including childcare, showrooms and potentially some office,” said Dominic Cullia, Corplex Director Construction Operations.
“We are excited to be developing in collaboration with MAB in the growing Cranbourne West market and enthusiastic about getting construction underway quickly to create local employment opportunities in Cranbourne West,” said Mr Cullia.
“Our purchasers are attracted to Thompsons Base due to its prime location on Thompsons Road in close proximity to their suppliers and customer base. They are also attracted to the location given the current and future residential growth as well as the proximity of nearby facilities such as the Marriot Waters shopping centre,” said Mr Allaf.
“We have already sold over 70% of the entire site. With a scarcity of purpose built business parks in Cranbourne West, Thompsons Base is receiving strong interest from small to medium sized businesses from the local region,” said Mr Allaf.
