What’s Cooking at The Sebel Melbourne Docklands
In December 2013, The Sebel Melbourne Docklands played host to the contestants from Australia’s two highest rating reality cooking shows – My Kitchen Rules and Masterchef Australia.
The contestants were most impressed with the luxury and freedom of space offered by the apartments and appreciated the full size kitchen facilities in the room, with some making the most of the opportunity to perfect their last minute recipes for the show.
Masterchef contestants commented on the spacious living areas which allowed them to relax and unwind between the stressful Masterclass challenges, with some taking to the pool and spa or a walk along the waterfront promenade to clear their heads. Each day filming took place in front of a live audience at the nearby Melbourne Showgrounds.
Feedback from My Kitchen Rules contestants and agents was similarly positive as they gathered in the reception area each morning before heading off for the days filming, not knowing what the judges had install or whether they were returning home to the Sebel Melbourne Docklands at the end of the day.
The hotel’s General Manager, Mark Robertson spoke with one of the project organisers who praised the accommodation and service provided by the Sebel Melbourne Docklands team, with particular reference to the staffs “can do” attitude, citing an instance where the team were involved in rescuing one of the contestants valued necklaces.
The Travel Managers for the two groups were seeking a property that offered luxury and space with in-room facilities that allowed the contestants to be completely self-sufficient during their stay, yet still providing access to all the normal services and conveniences available in a traditional hotel the Sebel Melbourne Docklands fit the brief perfectly.
