Buying more for less. Affordable family suburbs

On Friday, 21 March 2014 The Australian Financial Review ran a story on “Top suburbs for families”, with Domain journalist Kate Robertston nominating the top 5 family-friendly Melbourne suburbs, and their special attributes, for raising the next generation.

MAB’s highly acclaimed mix use community, University Hill in Bundoora, makes the list with its quality residential, factory outlet, dining and boutique shopping options.

NORTH EAST

Bundoora, median house price $582,000

Bundoora, 16 kilometres from the CBD, provides families with great infrastructure, a diverse choice of housing, a variety of shopping and food outlets, and a broad range of recreational pursuits, says David Moxon, director of Barry Plant Bundoora.

“You have La Trobe University and RMIT, quality secondary schools, a variety of shopping centres and the tram up the middle, plus good road access to the city and outer suburbs” Moxon says.

It’s 15 minutes to Northland shopping centre and Bundoora has both established and new estates, such as University Hill, with its factory outlets, restaurants and boutique shops.

Catering for outdoor pursuits is Mt Cooper, the highest point in Melbourne, Bundoora Park’s family farm, barbecue and picnic facilities, and Gresswell Forest Nature Conservation Reserve.
