Our personnel – Nick Schofield

Nick Schofield commenced at MAB in August 2007 as a Development Manager with the Commercial and Industrial team. However, he can boast a much earlier association with MAB .

“I can say that l have been here from the beginning as a labourer on MAB’s first residential project – The Anchorage on Beach Road, Port Melbourne,” said Nick.

“I was responsible for opening the site each day at 6am and making sure it was tidy for the day’s work ahead. It was a great first job and introduction to the industry.”

After several years working on overseas projects as well as developments closer to home, Nick is now a Senior Development Manager within the Commercial and Industrial team, developing key business park projects such as Meridian, Orbis, Translink and Global.

Nick brings a wealth of experience to his role, having spent several years in the UK co-ordinating large construction developments including Sainbury’s data centre in London and Goldman Sachs’ European headquarters in Fleet Street. “That was a pretty spectacular project to be a part of,” said Nick. “The construction included an indoor waterfall and internal two-storey conference centre.”

Upon returning to Melbourne in 2002, Nick went straight to work on the Eureka Tower and several warehouse developments before joining the MAB team.

“I am proud to say that l have been part of all MAB’s industrial business park projects,” said Nick.

This includes receiving recognition for the Steele Creek restoration at Translink Business Park, Keilor Park. The project was awarded the City of Hume Business Award for ‘Landscaping for Natural Area Restoration Project’. “That was a great example of collaboration with engineers, Melbourne Water and Council,” said Nick.

In addition to managing the development of several business parks, Nick’s focus now is the development of the much anticipated Expressway Service Station and convenience shops site in Port Melbourne, along with a recent industrial acquisition at Cranbourne.

“The Cranbourne project is exciting as it is MAB’s first foray into the south-east,” said Nick.

Nick says that it is the variety of his role at MAB and the breadth of the business that keeps it interesting. “Our developments can include service stations, business parks, affordable community housing, retail factory outlets and residential apartments,” said Nick. “We are a Melbourne company, developing Melbourne projects.”
