Idol’s Matt Corby to star in Christmas festival at University Hill
Australian Idol’s teenage heart throb Matt Corby is set to star at University Hill’s Christmas Festival on Saturday, 15 December 2007.
Festivities will kick off at 10 am with host ‘Fuzzy’, from Network Ten’s Video Hits, as local schools and dance groups light up the main stage leading up to the arrival of Frosty the Snow Man and Santa at around noon, ready to give out plenty of goodies, fantastic prizes and giveaways. The crew from Network Ten’s ROCK IT! television series will perform live on stage at 1 pm, to present an energetic and interactive live show that will have kids and parents singing and grooving along with the catchy pop music. Then at 2 pm, Matt Corby – runner up in this year’s Australian Idol – will take to the stage to entertain the crowd. University Hill is a $1 billion mixed use development underway on Janefield Drive, Plenty Road, Bundoora in Melbourne’s north, and developer MAB Corporation is hosting the first of what is expected to become an annual Christmas Festival for the growing local community. As well as Matt’s performance, the festivities will a Christmas market, an elves’ workshop, animal farm, free rides, roving Christmas Singers and of course a visit from Santa. “We’ve put together a really fun line-up of fantastic free entertainment for the whole family, and we think that based on this year, the University Hill Christmas Festival is set to become an annual highlight for the local community,” Jason Wood, University Hill’s Project Director, said. “It will also be a great day for people interested in living or investing in University Hill to come along and see the development for themselves and how there’s a strong sense of community already building here.” The University Hill Christmas Festival will start at 10am and continue until 3pm at University Hill’s Town Centre on Janefield Drive. Janefield Drive will be closed to traffic for the day to accommodate a Christmas market which will showcase local retailers, delicious food samples and offerings from local community groups, schools, kindergartens and child care centres. |
